-- BellSouth is reporting that 940 customers are without phone service in Northwest Florida (about .3% of their total customers). However, they expect this number to increase as customers return home.

-- Escambia River Electric Cooperative is reporting that all 10,000 of its customers in northern Escambia & Santa Rosa counties are without power.

-- Gulf Power is reporting that over 200,000 customers are without power, with over 100,000 customers being in Escambia County and 50,000 in Santa Rosa County. They are expecting 95 percent of customers to have power within a week. That estimate, however, excludes Santa Rosa Island.

A release from the state's high-risk insurance company said adjusters have been sent to the Pensacola area.

"Our adjusters will work as quickly as possible to respond to our policyholders needs," said Bob Ricker, Citizens™ executive director, in a release.

Citizens™ mobile unit will be located at the University Mall, 7171 N. Davis Highway in Pensacola.

Cox repairing damage to cable TV, Internet customers

Cox Communication's repair crews are on the ground assessing and repairing damage.

Seventy percent of it customers in Escambia, Okaloosa and Walton counties have cable television and high-speed Internet service; 80 percent of Pensacola customers have the same service.

"And most of the outages are because commercial power is still out," said Sheila Nichols. "In comparison with Hurricane Ivan we are in excellent shape."

We are committed to restoring service to customers as soon as possible, she said.

All 10,000 Escambia River Electric customers without power

All 10,000 customers of Escambia River Electric Cooperative are
without power in northern Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, the
company reported Monday.

Five of seven substations received heavy damage to the transmission lines that carry electricity from the generating plant.

Outside crews have arrived to assist the cooperative's teams in restoring power.

Seven hundred linemen are working on the system and more are
scheduled to arrive tomorrow, the report stated.

Update on court in Escambia, Santa Rosa

Courts in Escambia County will reopen Wednesday if electricity is
restored, according to a statement from the 1st Judicial Circuit.

Jurors for the week of July 11 are excused.

If a court appearance was scheduled for Monday or Tuesday, defendants should call their attorneys or the Clerk of Court's office for rescheduling.

In Santa Rosa County, courts will remain closed through Friday. The
courthouse in downtown Milton received significant enough damage that proceedings may have to be held in alternative facilities pending the outcome of a damage assessment, the statement said.

State has deployed Search and Rescue teams with canines to the affected areas. These teams are currently and aggressively searching the Navarre Beach area and the surrounding areas, although no persons have been reported missing in Santa Rosa County.

UPDATE – Boil water order for Gulf Breeze, Milton , Chumuckla, and Pace has been lifted. Those systems maintained system integrity.

A boil water order has been issued for the ENTIRE COUNTY , unless otherwise noted here.

Wells and low lying area water supplies will be tested starting tomorrow. Homeowners who have wells in low-lying areas need to have their well water checked for contamination IMMEDIATELY by the Health Department.

Testing is free to the public and will be offered starting July 11 th at Santa Rosa County Health Department. Bring your own water sample to 5527 Stewart Street , Milton . For questions, call the Health Department at 850-494-5780 .

Military Support

250 soldiers from the 164 th Air Defense Artillery Brigade were staged in Leon and have now moved in to the area and will stay in Crestview overnight in order to provide labor at various distribution sites and comfort stations.

Citizens wishing to volunteer should contact the Citizen’s Information Line at 983-5280 to register their availability. The Santa Rosa County Volunteer Center will open Monday, July 11. Law Enforcement

Curfew is now in effect. The curfew will remain in effect until 12-noon without exception. Roads must remain clear for outside resources (like ice, food and water) to arrive in a timely manner, for recovery crews to be able to begin/complete their work, and for emergency responders to have all necessary access. Recovery will be delayed if curfew is not observed and/or streets remain clogged by curious residents.

All intersections where traffic lights are non-operational must be treated as a four-way stop.

Water

UPDATE – Boil water order for Gulf Breeze, Pace, Chumuckla and Milton has been lifted. All systems maintained system integrity.

The Santa Rosa Health Department has advised all residents to BOIL WATER until the drinking water can be deemed safe. This is a precautionary measure only, they will advise when safe to drink.

County employees should report to their supervisors on Monday, July 11th.

City of Milton Information

The City of Milton provides the following status report:

Fire Department personnel are conducting a street by street welfare check.

Other departments are clearing roadways and assessing damage to private and public property.

Most traffic signals remain damaged and all intersections are to be treated as 4-WAY STOPS.

The Gas Department is conducting damage assessments. Gas services which were turned off to low lying areas in anticipation of Hurricane Dennis are being restored today.

The City’s water system remains operational on auxiliary power. Water service has been restored to Ferris Hill. A boil water order is in effect for Ferris Hill and Roeville areas. Water to Pattersontown will remain off until further notice. Water Service has been turned off to the following streets due to main breaks: Cypress Street from Cedar to Dogwood, Laramie Lane, Newton Street from Barnes to Berryhill, Parker Road from Edith to Riverwood, and Pat Brown Road from Blackwater Heritage Trail to Warbler. Once water service is restored to those areas that sustained interruptions in service, a boil water order will be in effect for the area. Water services which are not specified above and which have not experienced an interruption in service are safe to drink.

The City’s sewer treatment plant is fully operational on auxiliary power.

Garbage service will resume Tuesday, July 12, 2005 . Monday routes will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday route will be picked up on Wednesday. Normal service will resume on Thursday, July 14, 2005 . No yard debris will be picked up until further notice.

The Executive Council meeting scheduled for Monday, July 11, 2005 , at 4:00 pm has been cancelled. The City Council will meet in regular session on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 5:00 pm.

Standby employees will remain on stand by status until further notice. Standby employees are requested to call 983-5427 to report on their status.

Citizens are cautioned to stay away from power lines. Some power is expected to be restored to the lines throughout the day.

Pensacola Beach Update

Pensacola Beach is now open... but for residents and emergency personel only.

Initially it was thought that the damage was relatively light but crews have found a number of homes destroyed off Via De Luna on the Avenidas.

We're told that some homes were actually washed into the street.

Many power lines are snapped and strewn across Via De Luna drive and fort pickens road...and it is not safe to drive on.

Water didn't cross the road, but the picnic area at Quietwater Beach was flooded.
The hurricane took the scaffolding from the South Harbor Condominium and blanketed the beach with it.

But, damage to most businesses appears minimal.

Right now, officials are waiting on Gulf Power crews to come and clean-up the downed lines.

Santa Rosa County Update

Along Highway 98 in Navarre several buildings suffered severe damage...the concord church lost a part of it's roof...and at Emerald Coast RV, six rv's flipped over.

Milton also took a strong hit from the storm...the city's downtown historic district suffered major roof damage.

The Santa Rosa County Courthouse lost a large portion of it's roof...as did the historic Imogene Theatre across the street.

Several commercial businesses also suffered heavy damage.

Okaloosa County EOC

Holiday Isle remains closed Holiday Isle is closed to everyone but emergency personnel. The City of Destin will allow residents to re-enter and examine their property as soon as it becomes safe. The City of Destin hopes to begin windshield assessments of the damage tomorrow. Officials are tentatively planning to begin issuing access passes to residents on Thursday. The Crystal Beach area is accessible, however severe erosion has occurred and residents are urged to use caution. The City of Destin is under a curfew from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Both Holiday Isle and Crystal Beach are under a boil water order. Regular garbage collection will begin Tuesday for all Okaloosa County Waste Management and BFI customers. Normal yard waste rules are in effect with leaves and yard waste being bagged and all limbs cut into 6-foot lengths. Both Waste Management and BFI are observing normal pickup schedules. The landfills in both Wright and Baker will suspend charges for residential customers with yard waste only through Saturday. The precautionary boil order for the water systems in Baker and Milligan has been lifted. The water in these areas is safe for all uses. There are no food distribution centers open in Okaloosa County today. Citizens needing groceries and supplies are encouraged to purchase them at local stores, many of which are open. Assessments are being completed now and determinations will be made regarding distribution centers for later this week. There will be no distribution site in Destin and none are anticipated for Crestview. Citizens needing assistance from FEMA can call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362.)

Esacambia County Information (from Pensacola News-Journal)

The Bob Sikes Bridge between Gulf Breeze and Santa Rosa Island will open at noon today for residents of Pensacola Beach.

W.A. "Buck" Lee, Santa Rosa Island Authority general manager, said beach residents must leave their vehicles in the Casino Beach parking lot and walk to their homes.

Beach cleanup is getting under way slowly because problems have been encountered restoring power to the barrier island, Lee said.

A decision will made later today about whether beach residents will be allowed to stay in their homes, he said.

In other developments:

The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for its customers, effective until noon Wednesday.

Customers are urged to use bottled water for drinking and cooking. Or to boil water for five minutes at a rolling boil before use.

The ECUA is sampling wells today and Wednesday throughout the system. Once the results come back, it will reasses the advisory.

"We have no reason to think contamination exists," said ECUA spokeswoman Nathalie Bowers.

The ECUA hasn't detected any major water main breaks in its distribution system, but must test to be sure, she added.

There were power outages at several wells, resulting in loss of pressure and available water when Hurricane Dennis moved through Escambia County Sunday.

Water pressure has since been restored, Bowers said.

The Main Street Wastewater Treatment Plant is up and running, but there are some lift stations in the collection system that are still without power.

The ECUA is urging customers to limit the amount of water and sewage they add to the system to avoid possible overflows at lift stations.

The ECUA is in the process of installing generators at lift stations, Bowers said.

Gulf Power Updates

Gulf Power predicts power in two weeks

With 242,185 customers in the dark after Hurricane Dennis passed through the area, Gulf Power Co. crews began assessing damage and restoring power.

“We have sustained major damage in some areas,” said John Hutchinson, company spokesman, “but we hit the streets at daybreak full force to get the power back on as quickly as possible. We will have a better restoration time estimate after we complete our damage assessment today, but we think all power can be restored within two weeks.”

The company has begun a comprehensive damage assessment to determine which lines and equipment to repair first to get the most customers back up in the shortest period of time. Of 1,579 miles of transmission lines – the very large lines that bring power from the generating plants to population centers – almost 500 miles have been damaged.

Power has been restored to almost all critical services throughout Northwest Florida. Gulf Power is initially bringing in about 2,000 outside workers today with more on the way Tuesday to aid in the restoration effort.

“With this damage, it’s going to take many days, although we’re making good progress since Sunday afternoon,” Hutchinson said “We ask for, need and appreciate everyone’s patience and support. We want your power back on as quickly as you do.”

The hardest hit areas are coastal areas in Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties as well as the northern areas of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

-- Keep freezer doors closed and sealed. Well-filled freezers keep most foods frozen two to three days if the door is kept closed.

-- Do not connect portable generators to your household electrical wiring. This can cause serious injury to you and to Gulf Power employees working on the lines in your neighborhood. Connect only essential appliances – such as freezers and refrigerators – directly to the generator.

-- If your power is off, turn off large appliances and air conditioners and wait 10 to 15 minutes after power has been restored before turning them back on.

-- If there is damage to your meter box or the pole on top of your meter box, you must first have an electrician make repairs before Gulf Power can restore your service.

-- If there is flooding in your home or business, Gulf Power may be unable to restore electric service until the building is inspected by city or county code officials.

-- Please be patient. Gulf Power crews will work as fast as safety allows. Before neighborhood lines can be worked on, Gulf Power crews must first repair larger lines that bring power to neighborhoods.

Bank of America announced today that its banking centers in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties will be closed Monday, July 11.

Governor's visit delayed

Bad weather sent Gov. Jeb Bush back to Tallahassee as he was flying to Escambia County to survey Hurricane Dennis damage.

The Blackhawk helicopter he was flying in was battered by storms between here and Leon County, and returned to Tallahassee.

The governor's office is waiting for weather to clear, but will still come today. He's scheduled to visit the emergency operations centers in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, as well as special needs shelters in both counties.

Later, he's supposed to also go to Okaloosa County.

His revised schedule is being completed.

Curfew Order

Escambia County Administrator, George Touart has established a curfew order effective Sunday, July 10, 2005, from 8:00pm to 6:00am.

Law Enforcement agencies will enforce the curfew with the following exceptions:
Businesses and their employees who sell any goods, services, materials, merchandise, supplies, equipment, resources, or other articles of commerce including food, water, ice, chemicals, petroleum products, and lumber necessary for use as a result of a direct emergency; emergency responders including employees of Federal, State, County and Municipal agencies and heath care workers assigned to work as a direct result of this emergency; and employees or agency volunteers of non-governmental organizations officially participating in the emergency response effort assigned to work as a direct result of this emergency are exempt.

Health Department

Effective immediately, the Health Department is issuing health alerts for all swimming and water recreation areas in the inland waters of Escambia County. Excessive surface run-off and possible sanitary sewer overflows caused by flooding may potentially contaminate local swimming areas with water-borne disease pathogens. The Health Department advises against any water-related activities including swimming and fishing in the inland waters due to the potential for high bacteria levels.

Children and adults should stay away from pooled floodwaters on area streets; children playing in contaminated standing water can become sick due to high bacteria levels and disease pathogens.
The Escambia County Health Department will assess the safety of swimming areas and notify the public when regularly monitored areas are safe for swimming, fishing and water recreation.

Basic hygiene is very important during an emergency period. Always wash your hands with soap and water that has been boiled or disinfected and cooled before eating, after toilet use, after participating in cleanup activities, and after handling articles contaminated by floodwater or sewage.

Traffic & Fuel

Crews cannot get to areas. Please stay off roads so crews can repair services.
The county is working with the state for fuel deliveries.

Shelters

The Special Needs Shelter will now accept residents who are no longer able to live in their home due to loss of power or damage from Hurricane Dennis. The Special Needs Shelter is for the medically needy who live independently but rely on either nursing care or electrical power to perform daily activities such as taking medication or monitoring vital signs.

Fire & Law Enforcement

The Escambia County Fire Department and EMS crews are currently responding to calls held during the storm and current emergency calls. They are also doing street-to-street damage assessments and search and rescue operations.

Escambia Search and Rescue personnel are asked to report as early as possible on Monday.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Department and Pensacola Police Department are currently conducting damage assessments and answering emergency calls.

FHP is reporting downed trees, water on roads and are still assessing the interstate.

FDLE has 450 state law enforcement officers responding, 750 national guardsman, and 100 sheriff’s deputies.

Hospitals

West Florida Hospital is currently running on generators but has water service. Patients are safe and cared for.

Baptist Hospital is up and running.

Sacred Heart is up and running.

Beaches

Perdido Key is open but under current curfew conditions.

No hurricane passes are needed.

No power or other utilities at this time.

Access from Escambia County only.

The Perdido Key Chamber of Commerce Office will be closed Monday to allow County crews easier access for damage assessment, but will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, July 12, 2005.

Residents that do not already have their hurricane passes should pick up their passes beginning on Tuesday, July 12, 2005.

Pensacola Beach has downed power lines and wash-overs on roads.

An information station is being setup on Perdido Key where passes for re-entry can be obtained. (The location to be announced). These passes will be recognized on Orange Beach and Baars Bridge. See their website www.perdidochamber.com for updates.

Hurricane passes from Ivan can be used for re-entry to Perdido Key.

Escambia County Emergency Operations

The EOC will continue to staff positions.

Transportation

The bridge and road at Eleven Mile Creek on 297A will be closed between Highway 97 and Pinecone Drive.

All bridges are closed other than 3-Mile Bridge and the Theo Baars Bridge until inspection by the Department of Transportation on Monday.

The detour route for Interstate 10 is north from Exit 13 SR 291 (Davis Highway) or Exit 22 SR 281 (Avalon Boulevard) to US 90. Motorists are asked to follow the detour signs. Traffic will use this route until the bridge structures have been inspected after the storm makes landfall.

The Alabama Pass Bridge closed at 6:00 a.m. Saturday per the Orange Beach Police Department.

ECAT bus service will have no service Monday.

All ECAT employees are to report as scheduled Monday.

People in shelters should not call ECAT individually. Shelters will coordinate their transportation.

Four buses will be sent to each shelter to transport. All people from the shelters at one time.

Tolls remain suspended on the Mid-Bay and Garcon Point Bridges in Florida’s panhandle until further notice.

The Florida Department of Transportation has set up and is manning a phone bank for motorist seeking information. Live personnel are standing by 24/7 to answer calls related to detours, road closures and other transportation related issues. The toll free number is 888-638-0250, then dial 1 and extension 637.

Pensacola Regional Airport

Pensacola Regional Airport sustained damage to the roofs of two out buildings, the Navy Flying Club and Air Cargo. There is minor water damage to other parts of the airport.

The airport is expected to open within 48 hours.

Travelers are advised to make any travel changes by telephone, and should not come out to the airport before contacting their airlines.

County Office Announcements

Escambia County Facilities Management reports:

The Escambia Jail, Central Booking, and Sheriff Administration are without water pressure and power.

The canopy blew off the Central Booking building onto Escambia County One-Stop Building.

The generator at the Road Prison is not working.

The Animal Shelter has sustained roof damage.

The phone system at Escambia County Animal Control is out of service due to the storm. Until it is repaired, citizens who have animal control emergencies should call the County dispatchers at 471-6300.

Escambia County Road Department Crews are currently inspecting roads.

The Escambia County Engineering Department is evaluating all traffic signals and will have generators at locations that do not have power.

The Escambia County Animal Shelter is open as of Monday.

The county currently has three debris contractors, Ash Britt, Crowder-Gulf and DRC and will not be soliciting for additional contractors.

Those Board of County Commissioner and Constitutional Officers’ employees that are Manpower Pool unscheduled are to report to the Extension Center at 8:00 am on Tuesday for job assignments. Please monitor news broadcasts in the event that the return time is moved up to an earlier time. This includes all employees who have not been assigned pre-storm duties. This does not include School Board or Emerald Coast Utilities Authority employees. Staff are asked to come prepared to work outside with tennis shoes, sunscreen, hats, etc.

All Escambia County Health Department clinics will be closed on Monday. Clients with appointments at any of the health department’s four clinics should call next week to reschedule.

Escambia County Health Department employees must call-in their status using the toll-free phone number 1-877-425-8852. There are more than 400 health department employees reporting to emergency assignments during Hurricane Dennis including assignments at the county’s Special Needs Shelter.

Escambia County School District

Disaster assessment teams are asked to report to their respective sites at 7:00 am Monday.

The Escambia County School District has reported that all district activities are cancelled for next week.

Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office

The scheduled Tax Deed Sale scheduled on Monday July 11th, 2005 at the Old County Courthouse has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

The scheduled Mortgage Foreclosure Sale scheduled on Monday July 11th, 2005 at the M.C. Blanchard Judicial Building has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

Courts

All courts in Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties are closed on Monday, July 11, 2005 due to Hurricane Dennis.

The Information Hotline for the courts is 850/595-4400 in Pensacola. Information will be updated on that line as it becomes available. The courts have also established a web link at www.firstjudicialcircuit.org where updates will also be posted.

Persons who miss a court date on Monday should call their attorney’s office on Tuesday for rescheduling information. Unrepresented persons should call the respective Clerk of Court when the courts reopen.

It is anticipated that all courts will re-open for business on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 unless otherwise posted or stated on the Information Hotline.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY JURORS: All Escambia County jurors scheduled to report for the week of Monday, July 11, 2005 should not report to the M.C. Blanchard Building on Monday. Pay close attention to the news media for updated information and further instructions.

City of Pensacola

The City of Pensacola reports the northeast side of the city was hardest hit. Most damage was not severe, generally downed trees.

The Fire Department will start clearing roads immediately.

Pensacola Police Department is currently conducting damage assessments and answering emergency calls.

The Pensacola City Council has cancelled City Committee meetings scheduled Monday, July 11 and the City Council meeting scheduled Thursday, July 14. The meetings are expected to be rescheduled for the week beginning July 17.

Navy

NAS Pensacola sustained minimal damage. The front and back gates are open. Access is restricted to military and civilian employees with red stickers.

NAS Pensacola will reopen tomorrow to all military personal and those civilians with red and yellow stickers for normal working hours from 8:00 am.

All residents of Mariner Village may return at any time. Be advised there is no power as of yet.

NAS Pensacola base housing will be open for residents at noon Monday. Base housing does have power.

The base will reopen to all at noon Monday.

Tuesday will be normal working hours for all personnel.

Boat owners with boats at Bayou Grande Marina will have access to their boats at noon Monday.

NEX facilities will reopen at noon Monday.

Military personnel and government employees are exempt from the curfew order.

NAS Whiting Field personnel with red/orange stickers are to report to work at 8:00 am Monday. Personnel with purple stickers should report at noon.

Center for Information Dominance, Corry Station – All military and civilian personnel will muster no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, July 11, 2005.

NAS Saufley Field will resume normal operations on Monday, July 11, 2005.

Gulf Power

Following Hurricane Dennis, 236,713 Gulf Power customers are without power – almost 60% of the 396,000 total customers. The following is an outage breakdown geographically, by county:

Gulf Power has been busy trying to assess damage to the electrical system as Dennis passed through the area. Full restoration will begin at daybreak on Monday as Gulf Power crews and outside workers head out in full force.

Until damage assessments are done, they cannot determine how long it will take to restore power.

Customers are asked to report outages to 1-800-GUPOWER.

1,400 employees are prepared for storm duty and outside utilities are standing by to send in crews.

Gulf Power Company has commitments for more than 3,300 outside workers to help restore power after the storm passes.

Emerald Coast Utilities Authority

ECUA has experienced loss of power at several of its production wells resulting in loss of pressure and available water. As a precaution, ECUA is notifying all of its water customers to boil water prior to drinking or use bottled water.

The Main Street Wastewater Plant is currently with power.

Bayou Marcus is operating on generators. Please restrict water use.

Escambia River Electric Cooperative

According to remote indicator equipment, 10,000 northern Escambia County and Santa Rosa County customers are without power. Assessments are currently being conducted.

Gonzales Utilities and Farm Hill Utilities

These utilities have reported that they will continue to run throughout the hurricane.

Bell South

With power outages, some customers receiving service through remote telephone terminals have experienced service interruptions. Service to most of those customers is being restored as commercial power returns.

Some customers may experience service interruptions if their lines have been damaged. As soon as it is safe to enter these areas, BellSouth sweep teams are assessing damage and restoring service.

Approximately 7,000 BellSouth employees maintain the Florida network and hundreds of BellSouth technicians in surrounding BellSouth states are mobilized with vehicles, equipment and supplies ready to work around the clock to help restore telephone service to Florida customers affected by Hurricane Dennis.

Cox Communications

Cox Communications is currently going through the assessment process.

Preliminary basements show the network did not sustain major damage. Assessments will continue today and tomorrow.

1,000 additional contractors and employees from other Cox service areas will help restore services as soon as possible.

Perdido Landfill

The landfill plans to re-open on Monday at 1pm (weather permitting).

The Solid Waste Department has pulled all their recycling containers. They will be replaced as soon possible after the storm passes.

The Oak Grove Convenience Center will reopen after the storm as soon as possible.
Citizens are encouraged to report anyone who is seen dumping illegally by providing vehicle tag numbers and descriptions to (850) 595-3536.

Landfill employees are to report to work Monday as scheduled unless winds are above 40 mph (sustained).

The Debris Hotline, 937-2180, will resume as soon as possible after the storm.

Red Cross

All Red Cross volunteers and individuals wishing to volunteer their support for Hurricane Dennis should contact their local Red Cross office unless already scheduled for assignments.

Additional Information

Testing is free to the public and will be offered starting July 11 th at Santa Rosa County Health Department. Bring your own water sample to 5527 Stewart Street , Milton . For questions, call the Health Department at 850-494-5780 (until power is restored).

Again, a boil water notice is in effect for ALL residents until further notice. All citizens should either boil their water until it comes to a rolling boil for one minute OR, add 8 drops of household bleach per one gallon of water; if water is not clear after 30 minutes, repeat the process.

Food and Water

Distribution sites and comfort stations have been pre-identified and will be opened when damage assessments are complete and sites are available. Open sites will be announced to the public.

Energy

Gulf Power has crews restoring power in several sections of the county.

Military Support

250 soldiers from the 164 th Air Defense Artillery Brigade were staged in Leon and have now moved in to the area and will stay in Crestview overnight in order to provide labor and security at various distribution sites and comfort stations.

Public Information

Volunteers and Donations

Citizens wishing to volunteer should contact the Citizen's Information Line at 983-5280 to register their availability. The Santa Rosa County Volunteer Center will open Monday, July 11. Law Enforcement

• Curfew is now in effect. The curfew will remain in effect until 12-noon tomorrow without exception. Roads must remain clear for outside resources (like ice, food and water) to arrive in a timely manner, for recovery crews to be able to begin/complete their work, and for emergency responders to have all necessary access. Recovery will be delayed if curfew is not observed and/or streets remain clogged by curious residents.

• All intersections where traffic lights are non-operational must be treated as a four-way stop.

Water

• The Santa Rosa Health Department has advised all residents to BOIL WATER until the drinking water can be deemed safe. This is a precautionary measure only, they will advise when safe to drink.

HOLIDAY ISLE/CRYSTAL BEACH DAMAGE Initial reports are indicating that the Holiday Isle and Crystal Beach area in Destin have suffered significant damage. The area is currently closed for damage assessment. Officials may allow limited access for homeowners late Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday at the earliest.

Boil Water Orders: South Walton Water Users precautionary boil water notice for areas south of Scenic Gulf Drive off old Hwy. 98. Destin Water Users for the Crystal Beach area. The Okaloosa Regional Airport anticipates reopening at 2 p.m. today. Passengers should contact their individual airlines’ toll-free numbers for information on their incoming and outgoing flights. Do not call Okaloosa Regional Airport as there are no personnel available until 2 p.m. The Board of County Commissioners of Okaloosa County has extended the Declaration of a Local State of Emergency for 72 hours. The declaration is necessary as assessments continue. The President of the United States has declared a State of Emergency for a 13-county region, including Okaloosa County. Okaloosa County governmental offices will resume normal business hours on Tuesday. All employees should report to work for their regularly assigned shifts. Lowe’s in Crestview is open today from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. They are fully stocked with post-hurricane needs. Residents are encouraged to continue to use caution when traveling the roads of Okaloosa County.

Gulf Power Updates

Gulf Power predicts power in two weeks

With 242,185 customers in the dark after Hurricane Dennis passed through the area, Gulf Power Co. crews began assessing damage and restoring power.

“We have sustained major damage in some areas,” said John Hutchinson, company spokesman, “but we hit the streets at daybreak full force to get the power back on as quickly as possible. We will have a better restoration time estimate after we complete our damage assessment today, but we think all power can be restored within two weeks.”

The company has begun a comprehensive damage assessment to determine which lines and equipment to repair first to get the most customers back up in the shortest period of time. Of 1,579 miles of transmission lines – the very large lines that bring power from the generating plants to population centers – almost 500 miles have been damaged.

Power has been restored to almost all critical services throughout Northwest Florida. Gulf Power is initially bringing in about 2,000 outside workers today with more on the way Tuesday to aid in the restoration effort.

“With this damage, it’s going to take many days, although we’re making good progress since Sunday afternoon,” Hutchinson said “We ask for, need and appreciate everyone’s patience and support. We want your power back on as quickly as you do.”

The hardest hit areas are coastal areas in Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties as well as the northern areas of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

Alabama Power officials say 165,709 customers across the state have lost power. 49,273 outages are reported in Mobile County, while more than 26,000 customers are without power in the Eufala area and more than 53,000 outages are reported in Montgomery.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Alabama Rural Electric Association says the agency has reports of at least 75,000 outages, but he says he expects that number to increase overnight.

Initial estimates are that more than 200,000 Gulf Power customers along the Panhandle are without power after Hurricane Dennis made landfall Sunday afternoon.

That is almost 60 percent of the 396,000 total customers served by the utility along the Panhandle between Escambia and Bay counties, according to Gulf Power spokeswoman Lynn Erickson.

Most of the outages were in Escambia County, with 101,620 without power, and 52,227 in Santa Rosa County, according to initial estimates.

Restoration work will begin early Monday, as crews head out in full force to affected areas.

Gulf Power spokesman John Hutchinson said he didn't know when power would be restored.

That compares to more than 360,000 customers who were without power immediately after Hurricane Ivan.

Again, a boil water notice is in effect for ALL residents until further notice. All citizens should either boil their water until it comes to a rolling boil for one minute OR, add 8 drops of household bleach per one gallon of water; if water is not clear after 30 minutes, repeat the process.

Food and Water: Distribution sites and comfort stations have been pre-identified and will be opened when damage assessments are complete and sites are available. Open sites will be announced to the public.

Energy: Gulf Power has crews restoring power in several sections of the county.

Military Support: 250 soldiers from the 164 th Air Defense Artillery Brigade were staged in Leon and have now moved in to the area and will stay in Crestview overnight in order to provide labor and security at various distribution sites and comfort stations.

Public Information: There will be press releases at noon and 6:00 p.m. and press conference daily at 1:00 p.m.

Volunteers and Donations: Citizens wishing to volunteer should contact the Citizen’s Information Line at 983-5280 to register their availability. Law Enforcement:

Curfew is now in effect. The curfew will remain in effect until 12-noon tomorrow without exception. Roads must remain clear for outside resources (like ice, food and water) to arrive in a timely manner, for recovery crews to be able to begin/complete their work, and for emergency responders to have all necessary access. Recovery will be delayed if curfew is not observed and/or streets remain clogged by curious residents.
All intersections where traffic lights are non-operational must be treated as a four-way stop.
Highway 4 from Jay to Berrydale is impassable at this time due to storm debris.

Water

The Santa Rosa Health Department has advised all residents to BOIL WATER until the drinking water can be deemed safe. This is a precautionary measure only, they will advise when safe to drink.

Bay County Commissioners Sunday afternoon rescinded a curfew it announced earlier in the day, but several specific areas of the county will remain restricted due to dangerous conditions.

"We want people to be able to return to their homes, but to do so safely," said Emergency Services Chief Bob Majka.

Both the City of Panama City Marina and St. Andrews Marina will remain closed until further notice, said Panama City Police Chief John Van Etten. Additionally, there will be restricted access to localized areas with flooding, downed trees and power lines, but residents will be provided with alternate routes to their home.

Gulf Power officials report that approximately 15,000 customers remain without power in scattered outages, but that all main transmission lines are functioning. Power should be restored to all customers expeditiously.

Capt. Robert Sterling of the Bay County Sheriff's Office urged motorists to remain vigilant at intersections. Intersections with disabled traffic signals are to be considered a four-way stop.

Citizens living in unincorporated areas should report damage by calling Bay County Control at 784-4000. Citizens living within municipalities should report damage to their city government. All cities should provide Bay County Emergency Services Staff with a comprehensive damage report as soon as possible, Majka said.

Pensacola Police reported that the Pensacaola Bay Bridge is open to all traffic by order of the Escambia County Sheriff's Office at a 5 p.m. briefing at the Emergency Operations Center. No reports are in yet about whether U.S 29 north is passable. The Interstate 110 construction area had a lot of wash off of sand onto the roadway which could pose a problem after dark, officials said. The Interstate 10 bridge will not reopen until it is inspected. A state bridge innspection team will head this way early Monday morning said Department of Transportation officials.

As Hurricane Dennis made landfall, close to 119,115 cutomers across 33 counties are being affected by power outages, according to the 5 p.m. EOC briefing.

County officials said 8 percent of the total customers in Escambia County are without power -- 10,930 of 138,535 Gulf Power cutsomers -- and approximately 700 of 3,453 electrical cooperative customers are without power.

In Santa Rosa, 7 percent of total customers are without power -- 3,331 of 57,861 Gulf Power customers and 1,200 of 6,452 cooperative customers are without power.

Main Street Plant without power, no damage

The Main Street Wastewater Treatment Plant lost power at 3:15 p.m., said Pat
Byrne, deputy executive director for utilities operations for the Emerald
Coast Utilities Authority and the plants overseer.

Rain infiltrating the collection system and the people still using their
toilets casued raw sewage to overflow from manholes at the systems main
pump station at Devilliers Street downtown.

Streets are flooded to the curb, said Byrne said. "I wouldn't be surprised
if it contains raw sewage," he said.

The Main Street plant itself, except for the loss of power, is not flooded
and came through the strom with no obvious damage. Crews, Byrne said, are on
the ground. "No flooding and no equipment damage," Byrne said.

The ECUA had direct contact with the Gulf Power Co. during and immediately
following the storm, Byrne said. Main Street is totally dependent on the
Gulf Power Co. to power the 4-5 megawatt plant.

The ECUA is diverting flow headed toward the Main Street plant to storage
tanks at the old Warrington wastewater treatment plant. It also has onsite
storage. Byrne expects to the plant to treat sewage to full capacity,
without pushing untreated or lesser treated sewage, out into Pensacola Bay,
as soon as power is restored.

ECUA urges residents without power to limit flushing and water usage to
basic needs to prevent overflow at lift stations and manholes. The 315
system is mostly force pumped, with little gravity feed.

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office began phasing out 911 service about 9:30 a.m. to residents during the brunt of Hurricane Dennis.

However, 911 dispatchers were still monitoring "life and death" calls as late as noon to determine whether they could send out help.

"If it's safe for us to answer those calls, we will," said Capt. Randy Brown of the Escambia Sheriff's Office. "But it won't be long before we can't get out in this, period."

Sheriff Ron McNesby said it's too early to tell when authorities would resume service to distressed residents.

"It all depends on how long this storm lasts and how safe it is before we can get back on the streets," McNesby said.

When 911 service is able to resume, authorities will prioritize calls based on the level of their emergency, McNesby said.

The sheriff said he is not anticipating as many 911 calls that were made during Hurricane Ivan. Then, about 900 calls were made to 911 during the 12-hour period when deputies could not respond.

More people evacuated for Dennis, and several low-lying homes, where most emergency calls originated during Ivan, have been demolished, McNesby said.

Dennis' daytime landfall also should result in fewer 911 calls, McNesby said.

City of Gulf Breeze residents who have evacuated and wish to have their property checked AFTER THE STORM can call city hall. Volunteers will be standing by to take your calls. Please DO NOT call the police or fire stations, as this ties up the lines for emergencies.

The City of Gulf Breeze will institute a citywide curfew after the storm from Sunday, July 10 at 6 p.m. to Monday, July 11 at noon.

Traffic lights have been taken down at the Gulf Breeze Hospital and Daniel Drive intersections. Residents are reminded that all red blinking lights should be treated as four-way stops. This includes Highway 98.

Four Escambia County Shelters have spaces

The Tate High School shelter is now full, leaving four remaining facilities for Escambia County residents seeking to evacuate their homes at the last minute.
Four other shelters -- Bellview Elementary School, Ferry Pass Middle, Molino Park Elementary and the University of West Florida -- are near capacity and should be avoided if possible, American Red Cross of Northwest Florida advised.

Countywide, shelters are about half full, with roughly 4,100 of 8,200spaces taken. Shelters with remaining availability are: Blue Angels Elementary, Pensacola Civic Center, Century Carver Middle and West Florida High.

All patrol cars are being stored where deputies can cut them out of brush or rubble once the storm passes, county officials said.

"As soon as a it's safe for the officers to return to the street, we'll
do so," said Sheriff Wendell Hall.

Hall said the county was working with Tallahassee to divert all
nonemergency traffic around Santa Rosa County for several days as help and heavy equipment are bused in.

"Hopefully, we'll have at least one or two routes back into the county. I
know everybody's going to be anxious to get back," Hall said.

Milton's emergency operations in effect

The City of Milton Emergency Operations Center is operational at Milton City Hall, and officials have announced that all storm preparations have been completed:

--The water has been turned off in the Patterson Town and Ferris Hill area.

-- Natural gas in low-lying areas has been locked off.

-- Two water wells are being pumped with auxiliary power.

-- Byrom Street Water Tower is topped off and valved off to be held in reserve.

-- Police and fire services are fully staffed.

-- Emergency services will check the welfare of residents in affected areas as soon as practical after Hurricane Dennis.

Escambia emergency responders not running calls

Escambia County emergency crews are hunkering in for the duration of Hurricane Dennis and will not be out until daylight Monday morning, public safety director Janice Kilgore said at a recent briefing.

That means fire and EMS crews will not be dispatched to answer 911 calls. But officials are keeping a list of the calls they receive, including names and addresses in order to check on those callers when conditions permit.

Santa Rosa offers free bus rides to shelters - if conditions allow

The Santa Rosa County School Board and Laidlaw Education Services, the district's private transportation contractor, are providing free transit for people who need a ride to an area shelter.

"We will have bus drivers available to a certain point," said School Superintendent John Rogers. "We will provide transportation until weather conditions dictate otherwise."

Anyone needing transportation should call the Santa Rosa County Emergency Management Operations Center at 983-5280.

More thoroughfares being closed

Gulf Breeze police have closed the northbound lane of Pensacola Bay Bridge, and at 9:45 a.m., Pensacola police were the process of closing the southbound lane.

Escambia Sheriff Ron McNesby, after driving on the bridge to Pensacola Beach, estimated wind gusts are steady now at 50 mph, and waves already are topping the end of the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier.

The state Department of Transportation provided a roundup of other area bridge and road closures:

ECUA urges flushing when necessary

The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority is urging residents whose power is out to limit water and toilet use to only basic human needs. Residents living near Scenic Highway have lost power, and Gulf Power Co. has decided not to send out any more repair crews, said Nathalie Bowers, ECUAspokeswoman. If you have lost power, it is likely that your neighborhood has lost power and also area lift stations. Adding water and raw sewage to the sanitary sewer system will overload the collection system and cause spilling.

Contact with raw sewage can cause diarrhea and disease. Dr. John Lanza, the director of the Escambia County Health Department, said he may need to cut the county's water supply if the Main Street Wastewater Treatment Plant loses power for any real length of time. The Main Street plant is totally dependent on the Gulf Power Co. for power. It was without power for three days after Hurricane Ivan. Raw sewage spilled from manholes and lift stations, mostly in downtown Pensacola, immediately after the storm.

Water already at berm on Pensacola Beach

The water already is approaching the protective berm along Pensacola Beach, said Bob West, public safety director of the Santa Rosa Island Authority. And, he said, that's not a good sign for beach businesses and homes in advance of Dennis' predicted storm surge of 14 to 17 feet.

"And we're still a ways away from landfall," said a puffy-eyed West from Escambia County's Emergency Operations Center this morning.
"We're going to have a bad problem."

West said the berm, though the same in size as it was before Ivan hit, has no vegetation on it and won't be able to protect the beach from the storm surge as well as it did during Ivan.

"That's why it can't compare to Ivan's berm, not even close," he said. "That's a real concern for us. You saw what it did to Navarre Beach with Arlene. At least we have a berm, but we're still going to take a big hit. Without the berm, it would have been a totally different story. We'll continue to watch it and see what it does."

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has issued a mandatory curfew beginning at 6:00 p.m. Sunday for all south Okaloosa County. This curfew is in affect for all of Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Okaloosa Island, Shalimar, Cinco Bayou, Niceville, Valparaiso, Mary Esther and all unincorporated areas south of the Shoal River. The curfew will be in affect until further notice. • The curfew is being enacted to provide public safety access to emergency calls, damage assessments and immediate recovery efforts.

WJHG-TV is reporting that a mandatory evacuation order has been issued in Franklin County for all barrier islands, including St. George and Dog Islands, Alligator Point, all low-lying areas and all mobile homes. However, no shelters are being opened in Franklin County. Liberty and Wakulla Counties have shelters open; please see the shelter information list below for the location of those shelters.

Gulf Power Spokesman On Outages

John Hutchinson, indicated that the current power outages that are being experienced were intermittent and due to the normal levels of rain and lightening. Power crews will be attempting to fix the current outages as the squall lines ease up.

He also indicated that while we would be having services restored as quickly as possible after the hurricane moves out of here. He thought that restorations would be slowed by the extreme heat that we will be experiencing.

He said that he had over 3000 personel that would be entering the area from other power companies as soon as the storm has passed to help with restoration of services.

Hospital Information

Providence Hospital has implemented its severe weather plan and will lock down the building at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. After 10 a.m., the only access to the hospital will be through the Emergency Department.

I also want to remind you that Lower Keys Medical Center and Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald Coast are closed, including the ER dept., due to Dennis.

However, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center has said that it's ER dept. will remain open throughout the storm.

Baptist LifeFlight Suspends Service

Baptist LifeFlight has left the Pensacola and Mobile area until it can
safely return once the high winds and rains of Hurricane Dennis no longer threaten Northwest Florida and South Alabama.

LifeFlight I and LifeFlight II suspended service at 7 p.m. Saturday. By
departing the area, which is expected to bear the brunt of the Category 3 hurricane, the two helicopters will remain safe and better able to serve the community in the storm’s aftermath, said Baptist LifeFlight Program Director Kevin Stanhope.

LifeFlight 1, which normally is based in Pensacola, is being sheltered in Lafayette, La., while LifeFlight II, which is based in Mobile, has gone to Jacksonville.

Gulf Power warns customers of possible lengthy outages

Something to prepare for mentally: You might be without power for several weeks if Hurricane Dennis hits Northwest Florida or the Alabama coastline.

Employees will work hard at restoration, but Gulf Power Co. customers should expect power outages for as long as three weeks, said company spokesman John Hutchinson in a Saturday report.

“Right now Dennis is an extremely dangerous storm, and we want our customers to have realistic expectations,” Hutchinson said.

Gulf Power’s 1,400 employees are prepared for storm duty as well as outside utility crews, according to the report.

More than 3,300 outside workers committed their help, Hutchinson said.

Based on the hurricane time line, crews will spend late Sunday and early Monday assessing the damage.

Crews have to restore power to the main lines that bring electricity from the generator plants to population centers first, so customers should not expect to see utility trucks in their neighborhoods immediately after the storm.

Mayor Small “If at all possible please evacuate and go North or West, the City of Daphne can not guarantee your safety. I-65 has been 4 laned to allow a quick exit. Hurricane Dennis is supposed to intensify. The city will enforce a curfew tonight July 9, 2005 from 9:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. The curfew will remain in effect until further notice. During the storm Daphne Police Department and Fire Department will not respond to an emergency. You are on your own. If you have any medical condition that may warrant an emergency, please evacuate now!!!”

Evacuate Now!!!

If you do not leave, the City of Daphne is going to open ashelter of last resort. The shelter will be at Daphne Elementary East. This shelter is located on County Road 13 and just South of Whispering Pines Road. The shelter will open at 6:00 P.M. July 9, 2005. If you have special needs, you must provide for these special needs on your own. You must bring your own water, food, medicine and bedding. These items will not be provided during the storm. As the shelter fills up, the City of Daphne will open additional shelters as needed.

For Shelter Volunteers please contact Councilwoman Cathy Barnette. Her phone numbers are the following: 251-379-0462 cell or 251-626-0557. Volunteers are not expected to work the entire time but should be prepared to stay the entire time. Water will be supplied but you should plan on bring your food, bedding material, medication and quiet activities.

Continental will operate flights until 6:00 p.m. today.
Delta Air Lines: Today, the last Atlanta flight will depart at 12:20 p.m. (flight 704). Flight 226 that would have left for Atlanta at 2:01 p.m. and flight 1624 have been cancelled. The last Delta Air Lines/Delta Connection flight for Saturday is flight 5413 to New York (JFK) departing at 12:52 p.m.
Northwest Airlink will operate flights today.

SS Dixon Intermediate School, 5540 Education Drive, Pace, will open at 3 p.m. today. (When reporting to a shelter, people are encouraged to bring the following items: ID, sleeping bag or bedding, prescription drugs, special dietary items, flashlight, change of clothing, rain gear, infant needs, small toys/games for children, personal snacks and a good book. Due to health and safety regulations, pets and alcohol are not allowed in Red Cross Shelters.

Navarre Beach Information: The door-to-door evacuation notifications have been completed on Navarre Beach at 09:30 a.m.
Navarre Beach Water and Sewer will discontinue service at 4:00 pm Saturday July 9.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office will enact a curfew beginning on Sunday at 6 p.m. until Monday at 12 noon.
After that period of continuous curfew, the regular curfew will be from sunup to sundown until further notice.

RED CROSS INFORMATION: All Red Cross Volunteers that have not been contacted are asked to please contact their local Red Cross office as soon as possible.

NAS WHITING INFORMATION
In preparation for Hurricane Dennis, Naval Air Station Whiting Field (NASWF) will close the East Gate located on East Gate Road, off of Munson Highway is closed until further notice.
The Navy Exchange and Commissary, located on the base, will close
3 p.m., Saturday, July 9th until further notice. Eligible patrons (active duty, reserve, retired) will be notified via local media regarding the reopening of these facilities.
NASWF military and civilian personnel are asked to stay in contact with supervisors and monitor local radio and television stations for updates concerning base status, closings and reopenings.

COURT INFORMATION
As a result of the anticipated arrival of Hurricane Dennis, Chief Judge Kim Skievaski has announced that all courts of the First Judicial Circuit will be closed Monday, July 11, 2005.

City of Gulf Breeze:
The City of Gulf Breeze is under a voluntary evacuation, but residents are strongly encouraged not to wait until the last minute, as area bridges will close as weather dictates.
This will make Highway 98 the main traffic corridor, and traffic is expected to increase. More evacuation details will be issued as they develop.
Sandbags are available at the South Santa Rosa Recreation Center, 800 Shoreline Dr., until 9 p.m. Friday, with a limit of 20 bags per individual. Bags can be obtained in the front office of the recreation center and can be bagged by the individual. It will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday and will remain open as weather permits, until 9 p.m.
The recreation center (including summer camp) will be closed Sunday and Monday. After the storm, a decision will be made as to when it can reopen. It will reopen as soon as possible after the storm.
It is anticipated that water service provided by the City of Gulf Breeze will be turned off in low-lying areas Saturday morning. Residents are encouraged to take appropriate measures (fill bath tubs and other containers, etc.) tonight.
The official City of Gulf Breeze radio station, 89.7 FM, is broadcasting live updates continuously.

City of Milton:
Water and Sewer will be turned off to all low-lying areas beginning at 9 a.m. July 10th.

In preparation for Hurricane Dennis¡¦ landfall early Sunday morning, Bay County officials will fully activate the Emergency Operations Center effective 7 p.m. CDT. State recovery officials are already staffing the EOC in anticipation of support that will be needed after the storm, said Bay County Emergency Operations Chief Bob Majka.

The Bay County Commission Friday afternoon declared a state of emergency and issued a mandatory evacuation order for all evacuation zones effective at 7 a.m. Saturday. Officials opened two shelters at 7 a.m. Saturday. Merritt Brown Middle School, located at 5044 Merritt Brown Way, will serve as the general population shelter. Dean Bozeman School, located at 13410 Highway 77 in Panama City will serve as the special needs shelter for residents who have pre-registered with Bay County. Those seeking shelter need to bring with them a photo ID, bedding and any medications they are currently taking.

Additionally, officials are strongly advising citizens to stay sheltered and off the roads beginning at midnight Saturday due to the threat of tornadoes spun off by the first feeder bands of Hurricane Dennis. Lodging information for Alabama may be obtained by calling the Alabama Tourism and Travel Office at (800) 252-2262. Georgia lodging information may be obtained by calling the Georgia Tourism Office at (800) 847-4842, which will direct callers to local visitors¡¦ bureaus in requested cities.

A mandatory evacuation of guests in the low lying areas, including those in RV parks or mobile home parks south of Highway 20 has begun at noon on Friday.

A mandatory evacuation for residents living south of Highway 20 has begun at 4 p.m. Friday.

Freeport High School on U.S. 331 north of Freeport will be the nearest shelter for those evacuating. The Shelter has opened as of 4 p.m. Friday.

Gov. Bob Riley, with recommendations from emergency management officials, ordered the mandatory evacuation of all of Mobile County, with more than 400,000 residents, and the part of Baldwin County that is south of Interstate 10, a coastal area with about 100,000 people.

I have confirmed that the University of Mobile is closing at noon tomorrow, not 5 p.m. as originally reported.

Daytime lane reversal on Interstate 65 on Saturday has been ordered by Gov. Riley. I-65 will close to southbound traffic around 6:00 a.m. Saturday at the Fairview Avenue exit in Montgomery. The initial traffic crossover point for northbound traffic to enter the southbound lanes is located at I-65 just south of State Road 225 in Baldwin County. At 8:00 a.m. the southbound lanes will be opened to northbound traffic. There will not be any lane reversal after Saturday. Also, I-65 southbound will be closed to traffic at the I-85 interchange.

Pensacola Regional Airport

Pensacola Regional Airport is issuing a Terminal Building Closure Time of 10:00 p.m. Saturday evening based upon the current forecast of Hurricane Dennis due to its intensity and speed. The Airport airfield will remain open until unsafe conditions apply.
AirTran Airways will operate their flights on Saturday with an extra aircraft departing at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The last flight will depart at 7:05 p.m. (flight 420)
American Eagle will operate flights Saturday. The last departure to Dallas will be 6:52 p.m. (flight 3436)
Continental will operate flights until 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
Delta Air Lines- the last two inbound flights from Atlanta Friday evening arriving at 8:42 p.m. (flight 731) and 10:47 p.m. (flight 936) will go back to Atlanta Friday at 9:30 p.m. (flight 9869) and 11:30 p.m. (flight 9870). On Saturday, the last Atlanta flight will depart at 12:20 p.m. (flight 704). Flight 226 that would have left for Atlanta at 2:01 p.m. and flight 1624 have been cancelled. The last Delta Air Lines/Delta Connection flight for Saturday is flight 5413 to New York (JFK) departing at 12:52 p.m.

Post offices' Saturday hours announced

The U.S. Postal Service's Pensacola offices will operate as follows on Saturday:

-- Nobles Station, 7150 Tippin Ave., closed.

-- East Hill Station, 3001 N. Davis Highway, closed.

-- Warrington Branch, 901 S. Old Corry Field Road, 9 a.m. to noon.

-- Mytrle Grove Branch, 5200 Lillian Highway, 9 a.m. to noon.

Mail will be boxed to all post office boxes. The status of mail delivery will be determined Saturday. There will be no collection of mail from street collection boxes.

The final collection of mail from collection boxes located in front of Pensacola post offices will be made at noon Saturday.

The 325th Fighter Wing commander at Tyndall has issued an evacuation order for all personnel living on Tyndall AFB and off base personnel living in mobile homes due to Hurricane Dennis.

Other off base personnel are authorized to evacuate, and are ordered to evacuate if directed by local civilian authorities. The base also increased its hurricane condition to HURCON 2 in
response to the impending storm. This level of warning means that the hurricane has become a threat to area, where surface winds in excess of 50 knots could arrive within 24-48 hours.

All of Tyndall's aircraft safely evacuated today to various air bases in the United States.

The 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office has activated the Tyndall Straight Talk Center/Contingency Information Line at (877) 529-5540.

Navarre Beach Water and Sewer will discontinue service at 4:00 pm Saturday July 9.

The City of Gulf Breeze is under a voluntary evacuation, but residents are strongly encouraged not to wait until the last minute, as area bridges will close as weather dictates.
This will make Highway 98 the main traffic corridor, and traffic is expected to increase. More evacuation details will be issued as they develop.

Sandbags are available at the South Santa Rosa Recreation Center, 800 Shoreline Dr., until 9 p.m. Friday, with a limit of 20 bags per individual. Bags can be obtained in the front office of the recreation center and can be bagged by the individual. It will reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday and will remain open as weather permits, until 9 p.m.

The recreation center (including summer camp) will be closed Sunday and Monday. After the storm, a decision will be made as to when it can reopen. It will reopen as soon as possible after the storm.

It is anticipated that water service provided by the City of Gulf Breeze will be turned off in low-lying areas Saturday morning. Residents are encouraged to take appropriate measures (fill bath tubs and other containers, etc.) tonight.

The official City of Gulf Breeze radio station, 89.7 FM, is broadcasting live updates continuously.

In the City of Milton, Water and Sewer will be turned off to all low-lying areas beginning at 9 a.m. July 10th. Areas include but are not limited to Patterson Town area, Munson Road area from Alabama St. to Roeville, Ferris Hill area

The Roeville water tank system tank will be valved off at approximately 9 a.m. on noon Sunday. Residents are asked to use the water sparingly as there will be a limited amount of water storage in the tank.
